Award-winning composer Eckart Seeber
studied at the State Conservatory of Music in
Innsbruck, Austria; he received a Bachelor of
Arts degree from Simon Fraser University
(Burnaby, BC) and a Masters of Music degree from
the University of Victoria (Victoria, BC). He was
born on October 31, 1963 in Innsbruck, Austria,
and immigrated to Canada in 1981.
During the early years of his career
he composed music for traditional instrumental
and vocal ensembles and traditional keyboard
instruments. During the 1980's he served as
composer and music director for several theatre
companies and wrote and produced music for video,
multi-media and television. In the 1990's he
began scoring for films.
Eckart has composed orchestral as well as
MIDI-based scores and he has already created an
impressive catalogue of motion picture and
television soundtrack scores in addition to his
catalogue of concert and popular music.
His scores have been performed in
concert and on radio and television by well-know
ensembles such as the Vancouver Symphony
Orchestra, the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, the
Windsor Symphony Orchestra, the Czech
Philharmonic, the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra,
the Ukrainian State Radio and Television Symphony
Orchestra and Chorus, the Prague String Quartet,
the Purcell String Quartet, the Orford String
Quartet and many others.
He composed the world's first ballet
for robotic machinery, commissioned by the EBCO
Aerospace Centre in 1988. He has just recently
completed recording the album Ecklectica,
which has been released on the SONOVIDE label.
He is the recipient of several music awards,
including the Westcoast Composers Award and the
New Symphonic Music Award. He has several record
releases to his credit with airplay and sales in
Canada, the United States and Western Europe.
